Two years ago, I went hunting for the smallestWindows 10 PC, something that would run a full Windows with JAWS, NVDA and of course Narrator. I also wanted to run the latest Office, K1000 and similar productivity software.
I settled on the GPD pocket. It is great, except for being slow. It's literally a bit over a pound with an all-metal case. It's ggot a 7-inch screen that's very clear and bright that no sighted person can see from less than two feet away, but it does have HDMI, so can be connected to a larger screen. It lasts about 20 hours on batteries, fits in a large coat pocket or my middle-sized purse. You can find many reviews of it on the internet.
There is a much faster one out now; this machine is great running Chrome, K1000 and Wordpad, but lags with Word and Outlook. It has 8GB of RAM, 128GB of SSD storage and it's a pretty slow SSD.
I decided trading weight, size and battery life for speed was worth it for me because I have fast PCS at work.
It costs a bit over $500. It's built very rugged. The audio is super loud. It has no camera but the touchscreen works great with all the screen readers. It has only one USB-C port, and also a USB 3 port. No SD slot, no mic connection but the built-in mic is Cortana rated and works well.
Not a good deal if it's your only computer, as it is very slow. But I'd rather wait a few seconds for Outlook to run rules on my mail than carry a huge laptop around. I have a huge laptop that belongs to my employer I am forced to carry at times, and the GPD pocket bets it hands down for convenience.
I kind of wish this one would break though so I could justify purchasing the faster model, but it shows even after two years of heavy use no signs of wearing out!
Hope this helps another shopper!
